I'm currently looking for a new night time AP because seroquel pooped out on me. First I was looking at Zyprexa but I've heard a lot of stories about weight gain. So now I'm thinking about saphris.

For those of you who took this before, did it make you gain weight?
How does it taste since its sublingual?
Was it effective at putting you to sleep?

It hasn't made me gain weight.
It tastes pretty bad and somewhat numbs your tongue for a while.
It works really well at putting me to sleep.
It has also helped with the depression.

My son took it for about a month and half after deciding to go cold turkey off the different meds he was on. He went about three months without medication (bad idea, but that is a story for another time) then agreed to try Saphris. The taste was bad but his pdoc said he could suck on an altoid at the same which helped a lot. He was asleep within 15 minutes of taking it. It did not seem to help him enough and has now switched to Seroquel. His appetite did pick up on Saphris but it needed too. He did not gain any weight.

Yep, same here. I currently take 20 mg Saphris before bedtime. Works great for me. I cannot emphasize how bad it tastes, but you get used to it.
