best thing to do lika is to contact your psych doc and tell them about your feeling tired. Of course if you were sleep deprived that would be natural to feel tired, but 3 weeks is a long time to be tired.

You can also visit Psych Central - Trusted mental health, depression, bipolar, ADHD & psychology information. and search in upper right corner with the name of your med and the words side affects. Hit enter and wait and you will get a bunch of hits.

I agree, dear one. Check with your doctor. This drug might not be the one for you. I hope you feel better and more motivated soon.

Your doctor will most likely advise you to remain on the meds for at least 6 weeks as they unfortunately take time to be biologically effective. Side effects generally wear off after roughly 4-8 weeks when I'm on new ADs if that helps. Hope things improve.

Are you "tired," as in the kind of thing you feel when you work too long or don't get enough sleep, or are you "drowsy"? "Drowsiness" is a common side effect, but "tired" would probably come indirectly from sleep disturbance.

I was tired (the work too long feeling) before using this meds, but after using this meds I get also the drowsiness, so I think I'm worse than before because the antidepressant effect didn't kick in yet.

As with all anti-depressants, they do take a period of time to work. Your Dr will probably suggest you stick with it. Mirtazapine is well known for being fairly sedatory which is why its taken at bedtime, it should help improve your sleep over time. I'm no Dr but I'd suggest you stick with it. If the added drowsiness is not causing any major problems in day to day life then I'd say its worth sticking it out for a few more weeks because you could potentially have a lot to gain. Mirtazapine is one of the best performing anti-depressants in terms of tolerability of side effects and theraputic affectiveness. Tell your Dr exactly how you feel

Hi Miako,

Yes, I think Mirtazapine can be the right drug for me (if it start to work), but I think my dose is too low (I'm at 15 mg), I'm afraid that my psychiatrist will not change my dose.

But I will tell him everything I'm feeling, thanks
