Has anyone gone from a 5mg dose Lexapro to 10mg after one week? This is my 3rd time taking this but since I can't recall how much my average dose was (I think it was 20mg?), the Dr. started me out on 5mg. I only felt nauseous a couple of times, but mostly I feel kind of foggy. I was talking to my friend and he said maybe it was too LOW of a dose. Has anyone heard of this theory?

I have an appointment next week, but I really just feel kind out of it. My anxiety seems to have calmed down and I'm curious if increasing to 10mg would alleviate some of the fogginess?

Thanks everyone in advance

It made me very foggy and very lethargic. I started on 10mg, went to 5 and still didn't like how I felt, so I stopped taking it. It really did wonders for m anxiety, and the reduced anxiety has remained. I think therapy has helped mostly, and those few months on Lexapro somehow got rid of the worst of it.

You will have to see how it goes for you. I hope you get the results you want!

I'm off lexapro due to rapid weight loss but I was on it for about 6 months starting from 5mg then 10mg. 10mg is min therapeutic dose for anxiety.

I felt nauseous too for about 2 weeks. My doctor said that I could have started with 2.5mg, then 5, then 7.5mg then 10mg.

Maybe give it a couple of weeks for your body to adjust and see?

Actually it's funny because today I woke up and actually felt a lot better in terms sleepiness and feeling kinda weird. I feel back to "normal", minus the anxiety and slight depression. I think I will give it a try and go up to 10mg tonight. Maybe I got used to the 5mg rather quickly because I've taken this before? Last night was day 5 of 5mg.

Thanks everyone for the replies

I'm taking 10 mg, up from 5. The fogginess lifted after a few weeks for me, but I did notice an increase in energy once when I dropped down to 5 (didn't last at that level long, though, as the D came back).

I was taking 20 mg of Lexapro. 5mg is an extremely low dose. The average dose is 10mg.

So I started the 10mg last night and wow did I sleep heavy! I had a hard time getting up but overall I don't feel as "foggy" as I did. Not sure if it's because I increased it or just a coincidence, but I guess I will keep going with the 10mg for now.

I used to take it. I started at 10mg and was on that dose for a while. At the very beginning I remember feeling more tired than usual but wasn't sure if it was definitely attributable to the Lexapro. That did go away, though. 5mg is a low dose. My understanding is that 10mg is considered the therapeutic dosage.
