Long story short, about a month and a half ago my pdoc decreased my Wellbutrin from 300mg to 150mg because I was constantly on edge. I was doing fine until this week. For the last few days I've been extremely fatigued and unmotivated, have been having more than normal insomnia (that's been happening for a few weeks now) and just been feeling all together down and wanting to cry.

Last night I did some reading and it seems like I could be having withdrawal symptoms due to the decrease in the Wellbutrin. How long should I go on like this before talking to my doc about increasing the dosage again or maybe switching to something else?

Sounds like you know more about this than I do. I didn't realize that Wellbutrin had a withdrawal syndrome. Six weeks after a dosage change seems like a long time for it to be called withdrawal. Whatever you call it, though, it sounds like your body and brain are feeling the effects of not having the higher dose.

When I took Wellbutrin, I never could seem to get at a good dosage. 300 mg made me jittery and 150 mg didn't seem to be enough to help. I don't know what form of the medication you're taking so don't know if 225 mg is an option.

Maybe other people will have better suggestions for you.

I could give you my current go-to suggestion - 7.5 mg of Remeron/mirtazipine at bedtime for sleep. It has stopped me getting that "revved-up" feeling around 9 pm when my body should be winding down. I don't know if it's ever used with Wellbutrin.
Thanks for this!

Hi, Dan. I'm not sure, but I think it would be good to leave your doc a message. If it's something that a med change can help, then the sooner the better, I say.

I have been taking 200 mg of bupropion SR in the morning, I wonder if they could use that to bump you up just a little bit? It sounds like 300 is a bit much, but if the 150 isn't enough maybe a bit of an adjustment?

I'm no expert and I know it's up to you and your Dr, but I thought you might like to know that it comes in other dosing increments (at least the generic brand that I use,and provided you're using the SR).

Hope this helps, and hope things start looking up for you!

It could simply be that 300 was a more effective dosage for you and you are slipping back into depression because 150 is too low a dose. Call your pdoc and let him know what is going on.

I am on the XL version. I have been feeling a little better the last two days. I also think I'm coming down with a cold or sinus infection. Been blowing out a ton of yellow mucus, throat hurts and I'm just constantly worn down. Hopefully that's been a contributing factor and things will get better soon. I guess I'll wait and see what happens once this has cleared out of my system.

Thanks for all the replies.

Being sick can definitely feel like depression sometimes. Hope that's all it is and you start feeling better.
Thanks for this!
