Sometimes eating small meals throughout the day can help with nausea. I would also say that the nausea will probably where off after a while. I felt like throwing up, crying and going back to bed at the same time while running a cash register. As time went by, the nausea slowly reduced until I don't even feel it now. I hope you can hang in there and feel the good effects of Lexapro in time.

How much are you taking? I take lexapro but when I started i took 10 mg for 2 days then had to cut back to .5 (half a tab) for a couple weeks and then gradually built back up to 10. I had nauseau but it has mostly passed. So it does get better. Eating dry crackers or small meals helps. Also, maybe taking it at night would be better than the morning.

Good luck.

Yes hopefull that is right. Also Lexapro is a very potent drug so you may need to start out at a lower dose than 10mg and build up.

I've been on Lexapro since February. I started off on 5mg and worked my way up to 10mg over a 3 or 4 week period. I felt very nauseous and had acid reflux and headaches for the first couple of weeks, but within a few weeks those side effects went away. It has worked extremely well on my anxiety. I haven't had a panic attack since I started taking it and I've been able to almost completely give up the Clonazepam I was taking for anxiety. I'm getting out socially a lot more, have been dating, and have had no problems handling a new, much more demanding job. My depression has also lifted. I've been losing weight since I started taking it too. I'm 12 pounds lighter than I was in February... and that's a good thing.

My only complaint about it is that I feel more brain-foggy and have more trouble concentrating and am even more disorganized and forgetful than usual. I seem to have that reaction to just about every SSRI, though... I think I might have ADD and SSRIs just exacerbate the symptoms so I'm going to talk to my doc about that. Over all, though, Lexapro has been the best SSRI I've tried.

Good luck! I hope it works well for you.

So if you have been on benzos for 30 some odd years for just anxiety and they your thyroid goes and depression begins and you've tried all the SSRI's and SNRI's and it's been ll years and the luvox is the only SSRI you can tolerate but it doesn't do a thing for anxiety would you switch to a low dose of lexapro? Thanks Phillipa lexapro

I started out Lexapro at 5mg-- nausea, somewhat jittery, sweaty, trouble sleeping... but it wasn't to the point of vomiting... talk to your doc, maybe start at a lower dose. I eventually went off of it because my obsessive-anxiety-rumination-image-problem-thingies were increasing. Hey, isn't that the name of a disorder? lol Good luck with the Lexapro.
