I read that Paxil treats depression, panic attacks, anxiety, OCD, PTSD and other disorders.

My symptoms are:

depression
anxiety
OCD

I'm currently on 100mg Zoloft and 150mg Wellbutrin and 100mg Trazodone.

My family doctor recommended me asking my psychiatrist to putting me on Paxil, OR more Zoloft because I deal with so much anxiety and depression.

What are your experiences with Paxil?

Paxil was a great drug for me. It worked for almost 15-years. (Depression, anxiety & c-PTSD) But, as with any drug there are down sides. Always best to evaluate the risk to benefit issue. Best wishes.

It worked well for me for generalized anxiety/panic disorder and somewhat for OCD for about a year, with very few side effects. Then I started falling into a major depressive episode, and my new p-doc switched me to something else rather than upping the Paxil. Are you staying on the Wellbutrin, too? I was only on Paxil (though I'm now on Wellbutrin and Zoloft), so it might have worked with Wellbutrin for me. Good luck!

Another option, if that doesn't work for you, is to try an SNRI, like Cymbalta or Effexor (can also take with Wellbutrin).

I love Paxil! It's my all time favorite! The Zoloft to Paxil transition was not a problem either. Good luck and let us know!

I loved Paxil, although it made my libido completely stop. It took most of the anxiety and panic away.

I loved Paxil!! But I started gaining a lot of weight, so I eventually had to switch to another AD.

I was prescribed Paxil for depression and anxiety when I was 15, and was on it for 11 years. I currently got off it 2 1/2 months ago and am still going through bad withdrawals. For me personally, it worked for maybe for the first year or two, but it deadened my will to really enjoy things, and caused me to almost have constant fatigue on a daily basis. Also, my depression came back and never really went away even though I was taking it.

I'm sure Paxil works for some people, but I personally despise the drug and feel like it ruined a good portion of my life and it has absolutely atrocious withdrawal symptoms when you stop (for the majority of people anyway). I was told by my psychiatrist that for having depression and anxiety, he wouldn't use Paxil to treat it but obviously that could vary from doctor to doctor.

Overall from my personal experience, I'd avoid it like the plague.

I didn't do well on this drug at all. It put me through hell because it caused suicidal ideation and impulsivity. I got a personality disorder misdiagnosis from it because it amplified my ASD traits. E.g., social issues. This happened when I was a teenager. The only thing the drug did was reduce my obsessive thinking.

I did great with Paxil. Probably the best one I ever used for my depression, and I've taken 10 of them. I had to stop because one of the side effects, but I was on it for several years.
