I wonder when most folks take their Lamictal. My pdoc is out of town and I really do not wish to call the guy who is covering. The sleeping is getting rough and rambunctious.

I take mine in the morning and was wondering about switching to the evenings.

Prior to this I was taking 1/2-1 ativan at night to sleep and now I take 2 mg and it does not do it for me. 2mg seemed ok to my pdoc but I am wary of taking more than that.

I do have some ambien that is probably 2-3 years old I could take but I wonder about the advisability of taking that.

I think the med is working for me but this is a concern. I like my sleep. I am just on day two of 100 mg(?) as I am titrating up.

Appreciate any responses.... Thanks.

You've always taken the entire amount in the a.m.? I think the starter pack I received when I first started Lamictal had you start with one tablet (25 mg?)in the a.m., then one tablet a.m. and one p.m., then two in a.m. and one in p.m., etc. So at this point, I take 75 mg in a.m. and 75 mg in p.m. for a total of 150 mg. I don't know that I've ever experienced sleep problems due to Lamictal. Not to say I don't have sleep problems, though. But I've had those my whole life, and another med I take also interferes with sleep. I didn't notice any change with Lamictal. Ten mg ambien usually takes care of any sleep initiation problems for me.

I think I'd try splitting your dose if you can. I don't know what to say about the old ambien, sorry. When is your pdoc bacK?

Good luck,

gg

Maybe call a pharmacist to ask about the old Ambien? He/she should be able to tell you whether it would be safe and/or effective at this point.

Thanks you two. I have a feeling that I might should not take the ambien. I bet the pharmacy would tell me not to take it irregardless after this amount of time...to protect themselves legally. Pdoc is back to work Monday. Thanks for the input... will need to think about it a bit more.... I have been taking it all in the morn and now am to one tablet at 100mg.. Maybe I will read the brochure or the starter pack again but I THOUGHT I was doing what I was supposed to but... I sometimes miss on these things. Thx

I worry about how much ativan is too much ativan.

Thanks you two... Still liking this stuff in the daytime and no telling what is going on at night. Could be just my innards percolating....but wish they would settle down.

Thanks...

No experience with these drugs but I don't think more ativan is the solution.

I don't think old drugs will harm, but they may have lost their efficacy.

Sweet dreams.

You know...now, that I have been thinking about it--my sleep was a little disrupted around the time I started on my 100 mg dose of lamictal. The good thing is it subsided and I sleep pretty good now. I just have a day every now and then where I can't sleep. I hope your sleep issue is just temporary because it sounds like the lamictal is working for you.
