My psych. was giving me Ambien CR 12.5mg for the last 3 months. Recently this was changed to Ambien 10mg.
I did not even notice the change until I went to pick up my prescription. I am no longer seeing the psych. so I can't ask him.

The problem is this, the CR was causing me to sleep eat, sleep sex, etc. Then when I started cutting them in half I was able to get to sleep pretty easily and stay asleep for a fairly long time.

Now, the Ambien (Not CR) just causes me to be silly, like high or something. I can't fall asleep and my insomnia is back.
So what is the real difference between CR and regular Ambien?
Thanks

There is no chemical difference at all. Ambien CR is just a delayed release version that stays in your system longer so it helps you stay asleep as well as fall asleep. Try taking 1/2 of the regular Ambien and getting in bed with intent to sleep immediately.

Yeah - Agree with the doc here - with Ambien you must take it and go immediately to bed.... I started mine last night and I got seven hours of good sleep - straight through the night.

... I felt sleepy with in 5 to 10 minutes of taking the medicine, and it says DO NOT take with food -due to the fact that food may slow down the process.
