Here is my question. Since I started this drug I feel really tense in the shoulders. Even if I get a massage, the muscles stay tense. Could this be from the drug somehow?

The drug monograph indicates that back pain and neck rigidity are more common than in the comparable placebo groups. It's possible that the drug underlies your muscle tension. The only way to test the theory would be to discontinue it, and then restart it again, to see if the muscle tension follows the same pattern. You'll have to weigh how bothersome this is, against the drug's benefits.

My Dr told me this is a classic ditonic reaction and is common with these drugs. Larry are you a doctor?

No, I'm not a doctor. I didn't realize you'd spoken to your doctor about it. Yes, it is a classic dystonic drug reaction. Assuming, of course, that the drug is the cause. You'd only demonstrate that, IMHO, but doing the discontinuation and resumption of the drug. That's called a dechallenge/rechallenge trial. It reduces the doubt about coincidence.
Make sure you tell your doctor if the problem gets worse, or you get other signs of involuntary muscle contraction or movements. Lar |
