Is there anything that's good for sleep other than prescription medications? I can't take Tylenol PM, either.

Not sure if u consider it a sleeping med... I know it's an antipsychotic; I take seroquel for anxiety as well as sleep. Good luck.

Oh well, I just meant anything I can get without a prescription.. unless you can get that without one, which I don't know. Thank you, though.

The following is from a friend who has lots of psychopharmacological knowledge, cut and pasted from an email recently:

Or you can get some generic OTC diphenhydramine (benadryl) and this works abit better for most at 25-50 mg.

For me it was fine to take in conjunction with celexa, but the pharmacist should know.

Hi,
Just know that that is the same ingredient that is in Tylenol PM.
Take care,
Okie

Oh, well that could still work. I just can't take it because of the actual Tylenol because I've messed myself up with Tylenol, so yeah. Benadryl might be good.

Then definitely try the Benadryl. They come in 25 mg. tablets or caps. Take 2 for a total of 50 mg. It should help quite a bit.

Let us know how it works for you.
Sweet dreams!
Okie

2 benadryls knock me out. I might try three if two didn't suffice.

Melatonin is suppose to be safe and you can get it over the counter. It has helped me in the past.

Hi asylumgardens!

Along the same lines as the NyQuil, Neo citran usually knocks myself & my daughter out. (she is 23) Of course you would have to check on interactions.

Gravol may make you sleepy also.

And I am NOT a drinker..so I am NOT endoring the following on a regular basis:

***Check medication interactions with Dr or pharmacist for OCCASIONAL USE only***MAY BE ADDICTIVE*****

Whiskey/rye toddy (an old medicinal remedy)

***CAUTION will cause drowsiness..DO NOT OPERATE MACHINERY, or DRIVE after taking this. Hit the pillows*****

Mix rye ,rum or whiskey (1/2shooter size)with equal parts of boiling water. Down it. This goes through your system quickly & brings about drowsiness rapidly. Has worked for me for over many years..the odd time when I really needed to sleep.
Sleeping pills

Just a thought
