So I've been on Geodon for several weeks, but for a couple of weeks I've been taking it wrong and it made me manic. This is the fourth day I've been taking it correctly, but I feel tired during the evening. Is this normal or will it go away eventually? I can't be tired at night because I have homework and such to do.

I'm taking the lowest dose twice a day. I take one pill at breakfast then one before 5pm.

I could never take geodon during the day. It made me too drowsy. I had to take it with supper and hope the drowsiness wore off by morning (it didn't always). Eventually I had to stop taking it because I just could not tolerate the drowsiness while trying to drive and work.

I was doing the same thing, but my psych told me that I'm not suppose to take it before bed (it also made me really manic and hyper) and it's to be taken during the day. I work during the day though so I can't have a med that makes me drowsy. Some how taking it during the day makes me drowsy. but when I took it at night it kept me up which doesn't make sense to me.

I know one thing they impressed on me is that geodon needs to be taken with a full meal in order to work best. But my pdoc had me take it at supper (including in the hospital) because of the sedation issue. He didn't split my dose because he knew I could not handle it at all during the day.

You need at least 350 calories. The drowsiness effected me for 2 week and then went away.

I've been eating a full meal, but it's been more sedating everyday and intensifying.

I've read at least 800 calories, so a full meal.

The first 2 weeks I was on Geodon I felt energized from it. This week, the third, that slightly manicky feeling is gone & I feel somewhat sedated after taking the pill. I am guessing that after a month or so things stabilize & we won't feel excessively energized or sleepy. Hopefully.

In my case, it intensified as well.

How were you taking it wrong? I'm about to start with Geodon and the last thing I want is to be manic!
