I'd like to switch my meds and i made an appointment to see my pdoc this Thursday. I started seeing the pdoc 10 months ago for alcohol use disorder, depression, anxiety and not being able to sleep. Actually I couldn't eat either. After a few iterations I've stabilized on Seroquel XR 150 mg at bedtime and Effexor XR 3x75mg capsules in the morning. The doc mentioned Wellbutrin a few times but I didn't want to try anything else because the current combination was helping so much. And it has. I've managed the mood swings and anxiety much better now. Also I've been alcohol free for 1 year. I don't take any narcotics/controlled substances/recreational drugs. I want to get better and regain control of my life. I feel like things could still be better. After a full day of work, all I want to do is go to bed and put an ice pack on my head. It takes an enormous amount of energy to get up and do stuff. I used to be so active! I was thinking Wellbutrin might be a better choice for me than the other two drugs. Also--I noticed that my eyesight has gotten worse. I wonder if that was caused by the meds? It was 20/20 2 years ago. And, my weight increased dramatically after starting Seroquel, by 25 pounds. Does this sound like a reasonable plan to anyone here? I understand that I would stay under the doc's guidance as to switching meds and/or tapering.

I took Effexor XR for about 5 years. I did better taking it at night. It made me too tired if I took it during the daytime. It gave me insomnia whenever I took it, day or night, so I chose to take it at bedtime. I don't know if that would help you any.

As far as eyesight changes, you can find lots of results for SSRIs and SNRIs causing problems with eyesight. I don't know that it's a side effect that's been proven.

I wear glasses, and I find that my prescription tends to "wander", and I need a new one every couple of years. Another thing that can tend to cause blurry vision is dry eyes. Antidepressants are infamous for causing that. If it's just a moderate problem, over the counter liquid tears type eye drops can help.

If you have the opportunity, it would be a good idea to get an eye exam just to check your eye health for glaucoma and tear production.

I don't have any particular knowledge about the other issues you mentioned, so I'll leave those for other people to address.
