Tapered my daughter from 1mg abilify then off. She was on 1mg for awhile. She stopped it on sun. I believe abilify has a 75hr half life. Today is the first day the drug should be out of her system. Is this too fast!!?? Should I cut the 1mg in half... Making that 1/2 mg... then take her off??? She has high functioning autism.

It would be best to discuss this with her doctor

Coincidentally, my pdoc and I discussed tapering off Abilify today. I'm on 10 mg and psychiatry.net (translated into my country's language, it's basically the psychiatrist's online bible) said you could quit 10 mg instantly. (Pdoc disagreed and now I'm first decreasing to 5 mg)
And that website is fairly conservative, as in tapering off real slowly - for example I'm tapering off Imipramine by 25% decrease per 4 weeks, as advised (for outpatients; inpatient you can go faster) by that website and a tapering off olanzapine by 25% decrease per 3 weeks. So they (=the website) 're not the 'type' to go too fast.

Thanks for this!

The psych dr is ok with the taper... I'm just not sure if I'm comfortable with it.

Good luck in your tapering! Appreciate the info!
