Hi everyone,

I started Geodon about 3 weeks ago. Started with only 20mg at night and now am up to 40mg at bedtime and 40mg in the morning. I'm sleeping a bit better but still not always through the night. I've noticed the morning dose wears off completely in about 6 hours and I'm right back to hypo/mixed with paranoia kicking in strong until I take evening dose.

I see my pdoc on Wednesday but talked to her last week on the phone. She said I may need to take it 3x a day. Anyone else have to do this? Does it really work to help with mixed episodes and/or paranoia/delusions?

I've been on risperdal and Zyprexa in the past but limited success with those as well. I know I'm still on the low side of available daily dose and I'm willing to keep trying it. The expected drowsiness never happened for me as well. Other side effects have been very mild and go away in a day or two after each increase.

Just looking for info and hopefully success stories with this med.

Thanks all.

I took Geodon for awhile, and it made me so tired I had to take it all at night because taking half in the morning knocked me out cold within 2 hours of taking it, and I couldn't be sleeping all day.

It worked pretty well for me in preventing hypo/mania, but the biggest reason I stopped taking it was that it gave me an awful tremor, so bad that I'd get asked multiple times daily if I was okay and I could barely handle the use of a pen or pencil -- at around 21!
