Hi everyone,
Does anyone have experience with Evekeo? It is a relatively new alternative to Adderall and is still a stimulant but a slightly different chemical formula from what I can understand. I mentioned to my doctor that although Adderall worked great for me initially - it is showing decreasing efficacy and I am building up a tolerance and he mentioned that we may want to try Evekeo. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experiences with Evekeo? |

Evekeo - FDA prescribing information, side effects and uses
It's an amphetamine with a slightly different effect from dextroamphetamine (Adderall). It might be worth a shot. It is probably expensive though; there won't be a generic for several years. |

My doc gave me a coupon which covered it. Overall - the medication seems to be very ineffective on me

I haven't tried it, but I imagine an amphetamine is an amphetamine. What is the difference supposed to be?

Adderall is 75% dextroamphetamine (right side enantiomer) and 25% levoamphetimine (left side enantiomer). Evekeo is 50% dextro and 50% levo. That is the difference between the two drugs to my knowledge.

Just wanted to give a little wrap up here. I ended up going back to adderall simply because I saw no benefit and possible a decrease and efficacy of the evekeo compared to traditional adderall.
I hope this thread may help some people who are considering Evekeo. |

I've been on Evekeo for about a 2 months and for me it has been miraculous. I don't take it for ADD/ADHD however. I've had pretty severe depression for most of my life, along with sporadic ADD symptoms. Been off and on Wellbutrin and tried numerous anti-depressants for many years. Wellbutrin is what I kept going back to because it seemed to have the least adverse side effects and I still felt like myself, but after a while it seemed to not work anymore, or maybe my life circumstances just got worse.
At any rate, I'm currently taking 150mg of Wellbutrin with 10mg of Evekeo, so by itself I'm not sure, but the combination of the two has literally changed my life: I'm way more productive than I've been in years, my mood has stabilized without feeling like a zombie. I still have a healthy libido, and feel closer to "normal" than I've ever felt. I am self-employed and work/live in a very isolated area, so a big problem I've been dealing with is constant negative "chatter", self-sabotaging thoughts and behavior, occasional suicidal thoughts, and just this heavy, overwhelming sense of hopelessness. This all quieted down within a couple days of trying this combination. I have been getting out more, and being more social, and having a good time doing so. Up until I started this combo I felt very socially awkward to the point that I'd decline all invitations, only go shopping late at night, go to a party, only to turn around and get back in the car just as I'm about to ring the doorbell, etc.. No more of that. I have also lost 15 pounds in the past 6 weeks, since I've been on it (145 to 130. I've been chubby all my life, so I'm happy about this. I am very athletic but have never been able to shed the extra weight until now. Just hope I don't gain it all back if/when I go off this stuff). Now I will level with you, in the past couple weeks I have been experiencing some things that concern me, and I'm not sure if they are related to the medication or if it's an unrelated problem. I do have a follow-up with my PCP to address this: I've had to decrease my caffeine intake dramatically because lately I've been feeling too "amped up". Those who have tried street speed or cocaine may know what I mean: sometimes daylight hurts my eyes, my jaw feels stiff, my throat has been tightening a little (usually in the evening), I forget to eat (hence the weightloss) and literally have to remind myself to eat. I get light-headed when I stand up. My arms feel tired and heavy, while the rest of me feels energetic. Again, It could be because I'm hitting 44 and there's something else going on. I want to talk to my psychiatrist about trying to go without the Wellbutrin and just stick to the Evekeo. It is going down in price. I too am interested in knowing others' experience with Evekeo, and would like to know if anyone else is experiencing the same physical side effects. Honestly, I hate even having to be on meds, but I'm so exhausted from the depression, and I feel like my life is rushing by and I've been missing out on so much because it has been so debilitating. If these meds will enable me to function and have a life, I'm willing to tolerate the side effects. |

Aboria1972,
Were you on any time of stimulant before trying Evekeo. I know that sometimes docs will add a stimulant, such as Adderall, for lethargic depression. |
