Has anyone on Tramadol? Can you share your experience? If you don't take it everyday is there a risk of addiction? Does it make depression worse after use?
It's more like antidepressant and weak stimulant not opiate, it's very weak painkiller for me, I took it very rarely but my mom takes it almost everyday because of pain and depression. I never had hangover because I take it very rarely but I'm worried about my mom. It doesn't even help me with pain but I'm scared to take stronger painkillers because they are real opiates and can depress breathing etc and as I heard that first times taking opiates can be very horrible like vomiting etc. I don't want to get high or abuse it, I know it can end very bad if I did. |

Tramadol is supposedly a non addictive medication according to my dentist who prescribes it to me for dental work. I have an addictive personality and I have had no problems taking Tramadol. Its the other stuff that I refuse to take.

I don't believe that any opiate is non-addictive. But yes, tramadol is supposedly under investigation for usage in depression. I am not sure of it's efficiency at this time though. I will do some more research for you!
One study found that after eight weeks of tramadol in patients with lower back pain and depression, the depression component of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale was lower.

It made me very nauseous to the point that I would vomit.

I took tramadol, up to 550 mg a day (with my doctor's consent.. yes, we both knew the maximum dosage is 400 mg) and it mostly made me stoned and sleepy, not less depressed.

I was prescribed tramadol for arthritic pain. It made me tired and woozy, didn't help the pain, gave me headaches and bad dreams. It is addictive. It made me numb and tired and I LIKED THAT FEELING,but the nausea and sleeplessness stunk.

According to my pain doctor Tramadol also greatly reduces the NREM-4 stage of sleep which is the deepest and most restorative sleep.

Tramadol is essentially a mild narcotic. Originally it was marketed as "non-addictive" but that's not really true. It's addictive potential is lower than most alternatives, but's it is still possible. In my first job, I was more wary of prescribing tramadol than I was of vicodin because there was a very real tramadol problem in that community. In my two clinics since, I've grown more comfortable with use--there have been other drugs of choice in those communities.

I used to abuse it and it is addictive I ain't never been right since I stopped abusing this and other opaites. I mainly used this and vicoden.
I used to have to take 3-4 5mg hydrocodon to get high and it only took 2 50mg Tremadol and they lasted longer. Tremadol kinda made me itch more but I didn't mind cuz t I knew I was high |

Thank you all, as I see your opinions differs, I think it may be like benzos- if you take it often and much, you could become addicted but if you take it rarely you could be emotionally addicted but nothing horrible if you can control yourself, the only problem is that it's hard to get this med.

I sometimes take tramadol for pain as I'm not allowed to take opiates because I got addicted to taking them when I damaged my elbow. I went cold turkey and would never touch codeine again.
I find tramadol slightly relaxing at 2x50mg and it does help boost my mood slightly also. As for pain they are no better than paracetamol.
