I am on Depakote which supposedly is hard on the liver and an SSRI which says in the drug facts not to take NSAIDS while taking. I would take Tylenol, but Tylenol would be another liver stresser. I already have stomach problems, never officially found out if if was an ulcer, but my doc seemed to think it was and I don't want to worsen it by mixing stuff that shouldn't be. I am going to ask the pharm and doctor when I go in, but was wondering if anyone had any other solutions. I would like to start limiting my caffeine intake and it would be nice to have something for my withdrawal headaches, or headaches for anytime for that matter.

Well, hopefully, you can get that all straightened out. I know, dealing with meds can be a bear.

Go ahead and take NSAIDs. The reason they say not to take them is increased risk of bleeding, but they aren't actually unsafe unless you are high risk anyway. I've had this confirmed by multiple doctors.

I found out taking ibuprofen with Lithium isn't good. It slows the detoxification of the used Lithium out of your body resulting in buildup to high levels and ultimately toxicity and kidney problems.
Before I discovered this I was taking a bit of Advil for an injury. I didn't understand why my lower back was aching, sometimes severely. Then I stumbled across the information...so I quit the Advil and in a few days the ache went away. Who knew? Dang psychs won't tell you these things! |

Peppermint oil contains something that helps headaches. That's what I used when I was on lithium and couldn't take NSAIDs (and I couldn't take Tylenol because of other reasons) And cafeine can also help headaches because it widens the blood vessels in the brain - however, if you take too much, it can also cause headaches.

My doctor thinks I have an ulcer, last time I got blood work for my Depakote levels he checked other stuff and asked if I take aspirin or ibuprofen I said No and he said "good" I am thinking that may mean I am at a greater risk for internal bleeding.
