Hi,
About 2 weeks ago my doctor put me on 600 mg a day of Lithium. My question is..is this a standard dose or is it higher. Has anyone or is anyone else taking it and what dosage are you on and what experiences have you had or are you having?
My PDOC ordered kidney and thyroid/lithium level tests and hasn't gotten the results yet to determine my dosage etc so I'm waiting for that to come back.

Thanks,
Nat

I was on dosages from 800 to 1200 mg. But it's all about the 'blood lithium level' and not about the dosage you take.

I took it for unipolar depression. It didn't work, and I didn't have side effects. Not even toxicity, even though I barely/didn't drink for a while while on it (I was psychotic and thought drinking (as in, consuming liquids - not alcohol) would make me immortal and given that I wanted to die..).

I was on Lithium 2 years ago and I think I started out at 300 once a day and eventually moved up to 300 twice a day. It was a full 6 weeks before my doctor even talked about checking my blood-lithium level.

I am on 1800mg daily but that's because my levels go down. I would compare it to half that dose (900) for someone that didn't shed it out of their system so fast. 600 is nothing. You must have a nice doctor.

My doctor started me on 150mg twice a day because I had taken it before and was acting manic. I think I was on 300mg twice a day the first time. I know people who take way higher doses, well read anyways and I've never actually read anyone take as low a dose as I am. 600mg seems like the middle ground although you only take it once a day? That seems like a starting dose a doctor would give.
