It's heartbreaking to see our daughter suffer with these thoughts. She can't function. It's consuming her life. Very debilitating. Zoloft & Abilify doesn't work. Please help!!!

Intrusive OCD-type thoughts? Luvox has worked well for me.

Seroquel worked wonders and still does for me.

Usually the atypical antipsychotics are the most effective. What type of intrusive thoughts though? Different meds work for different situations. Like the above poster said, luvox is about the most effective med out there for OCD and it's an SSRI, Zyprexa is helpful both intrusive thoughts of any kind, has shown some efficacy in treating distortions associated with Anorexia. There's also Seroquel, Geodon, Latuda, Rexulti, Invega. There's a lot out there. It may take some trial and error, but odds are good you'll find something that helps.

Good luck.

I would suggest atypical antipsychotics too. Seroquel works for me, I have some intrusive and paranoid thoughts and it makes them disappear in couple of days. Drowsiness is biggest negative effect, but if taken in the evening it's not too bad. Dosage must be at least 200 mg, anything below is useless, it would only work as a sleeping aid.

It took 3 months for Abilify to finally start working for me. But since then, it's been very good.

The best for me have been Prozac and Luvox CR, but everyone is different. Effexor XR I remember helped a lot, too, for me. The problem is everyone is so different. I wish it was a one size fixed all. I'm on a cocktail right now that includes Prozac and some other meds, but I also unfortunately have more problems than just OCD.

Whenever I have a manic or psychotic episode, I use Depakote or Lithium liquid. It's difficult to stop thoughts that just won't subside. I take abilify now for maintenance when I'm stable, but for major episodes, I go straight to heavy mood stabililzers. I know everyone is different. Best wishes!
