My psychiatrist prescribed me 2MG of Abilify to go with 300MG of Wellbutrin and 50MG of Paxil. How has Abilify worked for some of you?

it was wonderful for me until I couldn't afford it anymore. My pharmacy screwed up the discount card and voided it and they only allow one per person no excuses

Abilify was one of the worst drugs I've ever taken. It made me almost suicidally depressed within just a few weeks of starting it. Needless to say, I wasn't on it very long.

I'm on the abilify shot and in pills in the past. Best drug out there for me. But the only way to know is to try it . Chemistry is different for everyone
Good luck!

I was on 15mg abilify I think for about 6 months. It was helpful but it made me restless, couldn't sit still and I couldn't stand it so stopped it. In hindsight it wasn't the best idea, ended up ip for 6 weeks, but I got on new meds and have been more stable since then. Ish.

I was on 10 mg for about half a year. I didn't notice anything - no effects, no side effects.

I've been on Abilify for several years with no side effects. I started on 10mg and went all the way up to 40mgs, now I am on 20mgs and doing well. I also take 50mgs of Pristiq.

I've been on 2 mg for a while now. It helps with depression, but if I take too much, then I become hypomanic. So, it's a bit of a balancing act to take enough to get rid of depression but not so much that it swings me too far the other way.

I love Abilify. I have no noticeable side effects and it has helped my depression. I take 15mgs.

When I first took it I got akathesia so my doctor took me off of it. We tried it again a few years later and this time no akathesia.

For the past year or so it has been available as a generic so the price has come down.

I am on 10mg a day, all internal chatter has had the volume turned down. It feels like a constant meditative state.

I also have to say that getting motivated on abilify is hard. In saying that though the circumstances I'm make it hard to actually say it is the drug's fault.

Abilify made me physically sick, it made me nauseous all the time and dizzy no matter how slowly I stood up
I was always stumbling around and I didn't eat anything for days because of the sickness

I was on 10mg I think,
I ended up having to go to the hospital to come off it

It made everything I ate taste metallic. I completely lost my appetite. Sweets were the only thing that tasted good at all...

It made me shaky & have panic attacks at 5mg. Good for the symptoms of my mood disorder, but intolerable side effects. Wouldn't take again.

It worked, but it also made me fat and restless and so I had to stop taking it.

I did not want to go on it because it can cause diabetes if you're prediabetic (which I am). So I made my primary care doc give me a glucose meter prescription. It can give you diabetes even if you don't gain any weight from it.

So glad I tried it, it has really helped with anxiety. I am on 10 mg now and I don't want to increase the dose. At 5 mg the anxiety was still interfering with my life; at 10 mg and I can function. Did not seem to help my depression much, though.

Worth a shot. Pdoc and studies say that if you don't get diabetes in the first 3 months, it's unlikely to happen. And if you're at low risk for that otherwise, it makes the decision easier.

I'm also on Cymbalta 90 mg for neuropathic pain and major depression; Trileptal 1500 mg for mood swings; Ambien 5 mg for sleep/compliance with sleep apnea treatment; and other drugs for physical problems.

Good luck whatever you decide!

I'm currently on 4mg of Abilify and 60mg of Cymbalta, though I started out with 2mg of Abilify. I've only been on the Abilify for a few weeks, but I think it's been making me restless. I do seem to have more energy and maybe feel a little bit better, but it also may have
Possible trigger:
so I'm going to get new medicine soon I think.

Unfortunately, I got muscle spasms in my hands and arms. If I had a different job it might be OK but I need good fine motor skills. Mood-wise, things were fine.

Like jacky8807 mentioned, everyone's biochemistry is different so you can really go by others' experience. If you do decide to try it, I hope it works really well for you.

When I first started on Abilify at 5mg (for psychosis), it was really quite good for my mood overall. The only downside was a degree of restlessness. When I went up to 10mg though it became very sedating to me.

I came off it because of a combination of the sedation & restlessness. I do seem somewhat sensitive to APs though.

As people have said, everyone reacts differently to APs, so don't be swayed by any negative comments. Hopefully it'll work well for you OP.

Hello,
I've been on Abilify for 5 yrs now at 2 mg and it really helps my depression and anxiety. I take it with 10 mg of an antidepressant called Trintellix.
All the best

I took it for moderate to severe MDD and it made me feel awesome for 6 weeks, almost a hypomanic state. Then I crashed and burned, felt like crap again. It made me sick for a 2 week period both when starting and stopping. (Bad nausea and no appetite). Never again.
