Hey,

I'm taking 100mg zoloft and have been for a few months, upped from 50mg about 6 months ago. I was drinking pretty much every day for the last two years, and have stopped that (finally). Now I drink 1-2 drinks a week. Since quitting drinking so much I am a lot more anxious and sad than before, and I'm wondering how you can tell when you need to change your medication and look for something that suits you better? Or if it's just the anxiety I've always had and I have to work my way through this with my therapist.

It's been hard, I feel like crying at work and I'm isolating myself from social situations.
Hugs from:

Talk to a psychiatrist. Therapists can't prescribe meds.

I have a psychiatrist and a separate therapist. My question is more like, should I just continue to be very anxious all the time or should I ask my psychiatrist, who I don't have a great relationship with, to change my meds?

"Very anxious all the time" is a counterproductive state, so yeah, I'd go back to the MD to see if we could do anything to fine-tune the situation. I had terrible problems with anxiety, for which I now take valium. I know a lot of people are afraid of dependence on benzodiazepines, but I'm dependent on a lot of medications, psychotropic and otherwise.
Thanks for this!

How long ago did you cut down on the drinking? I ask because giving up alcohol can cause anxiety. If it was a while ago, I would speak to both your t and pdox. If it was recently, then it could just be related to giving up the alcohol.
Thanks for this!
