For the past 4 months since I started lamictal, my sleep has progressively gotten worse. It started off with more frequent than usual wake ups. Then, even more frequent wake ups every 1-2 hours. Now I wake up every 30 minutes - 1 hour max every night without fail. I often wake up with a racing heart and extreme anxiety. I go to sleep at regular times, meditate, listen to relaxing music, and I've been on seroquel as well which did nothing but make me feel more tired, without keeping me asleep. Is the culprit lamictal? My pdoc says no; that lamictal does not cause that side effect. But in all of my 20 years, I have never experienced a sleep disorder this chronic and severe. I'm extremely fatigued on a daily basis, which exacberates my other symptoms (primarily BPD).
I have been on other meds for sleep/anxiety as well, but nothing has helped. Has anyone had a similar experience while on lamictal? I can't go on like this and I would like to get off of lamictal ASAP if it's the reason behind this. I'm currently on 200mg. |

Are you taking at night? When I was up to 100mg I started having trouble sleeping. My pdoc advised me to switch it to morning and that pretty much solved the problem. Good luck!

That's funny, I take 300mg at night because it would make me tired. I take the birth control pill so my dose reflects that.
