I am currently on day 3 of week five on the lamictal titrate. I felt ok up until today, but I am not sure if its the lamictal that is causing this. My head feels all weird, I can't even explain it really, just feels far away and there is some pressure as welll. Has anyone else had any similar experiences like this with lamictal? I don't like this feeling at all!

I have been taking lamictal for several months and I have not had any problems with side effects...that I know of. Hopefully they will fade over time. I know lamictal has really helped me.

I feel a little better today. I am just so worried because I was on lamictal last year, and when I went to 150 mg I had vertigo and stopped taking it. After trying a few other meds, my doc and I decided to try the lamictal again, since it is the only med that showed some promise. That and the fact that I am enrolled in the GSK Bridges to Access program and get the lamictal free for like 6 more months!

I couldn't even lay down it was so uncomfortable...one night I could only sit on the edge of the bed for a few hours...glad to know I'm not the only one...

May I ask " why " such HIGH doses of Lamictal? I'm taking 50mgs. QD. and I feel the effects already. I'm back to my old self again. Have you started out on low doses before being bumped?
I'm B.P.1 disorder. I take Luvox as well. |

If you are asking me...yes I titrated to 100, then to 150, then 200...I would imagine the effective does for everyone is different...I think the goal is to look for what is the minimum amount one can take and have relief...

I am on 150, but I also take abilify and wellbutrin. It seems you titrated up a lot faster than I did--maybe that is why you have had some side effects. I feel pretty good on the 150.

Those are not high doses, in fact 150mg per day total,is the lowest therapeutic dose for Bipolar-II, most do well at 200mg per day.
Lamictal should be titrated gradually, most docs start you at 25mg's and then work up to therapeutic dose. I wish y'all luck with your meds., and always remember to call the prescribing physician if there are any strange things going on. Those with Bipolar-I may need something in adjunct to help reduce or nix manic episodes. Lamictal does have great anti-depressant properties even though it is not an AD, it is in the anti-convulsant category. Alone, it can be enough for those with BP-II due to the milder mania/manic episodes and deep depressive episodes. I wish y'all lots of luck and progress with the new meds. Take care, DE
