I've heard stories about topomax making people clumsy, forgetful, i believe someone even mentioned "kind of make me feel stupid", difficulty organising thoughts. are these side effects all common, and very likely to happen? will these side effects fade out over time maybe? Anyone?

I used to take 200mg and stopped taking it because my focus was twice as bad. My new psychiatrist said that at that dose, I would have dropped like 20 IQ points.

I was good at 50mg, and my appetite eventually decreased a lot on this dosage, but when doctor made a jump to 100 mg. I went downhill - very very foggy. So, try to stay at 50 if you can, if you are taking it along with other Meds also to control your symptoms. If you want to go up, try 75. Just increase very very gradually.
Thanks for this!

.....would be better to start out at 25mg, but I am very sensitive to medication changes. Hopefully you have a good doctor, who knows you well.
Thanks for this!

I was on topamax for years at 200 rwice a day. It did effect the way food tastes and messed with my memory and speech after about 10 years. But I also had migraines seizures and then a head injury so I think that was the reason for the high dose. I went off once I had trouble writing. If someone gave me a phone number I would get stuck and not be able to remember how to make a four. It was never clear if that was a side effect or from the TBI.

All said it was a very tolerable medication.

It made me have weight issues like feeling I was wasting away literally! I stopped eating because I felt no longer hungry! I told my doctor about this numerous times she did nothing except say I had "low self esteem" and I was always nauseous with abilify so double duty there.
