It sucks. Just thought give you guys a heads up if you're thinking about going on it. Literally thought I was coming down with the flu on Friday but no, I'm pretty sure it was just withdrawals 😷

I just started it last Thursday and im told to wait 6 weeks to see if it even will work.

Can i ask, how long were you on it? And why are you now coming off?

This makes me nervous.

5 years on it, final dose 150mg, took me the better part of a year to get off it. Flu-like symptoms the entire time, I essentially lived on the bathroom floor.

4-6 weeks is the normal amount of time for most anti-depressants become fully effective.

I have been on 50mg since December last year. I am coming off it because it was causing excessive sweating and I don't think it was helping to relieve any of my symptoms (although now I'm not so sure).

Not everyone reacts like this. In fact I was on the same medication about 2.5 years ago and didn't have any of these issues. For some reason I'm more sensitive this time. It's just one of those things I guess.

That sounds terrible. Did you find your depressive/anxiety symptoms worsened during withdrawal? I am finding that but I'm not sure if it is from the withdrawal or not because there is some other stuff going on that could be causing it too. Or maybe the medication was actually working and that is why I am feeling worse. This whole process is confusing and scary

I just increased to 100mg today, I have been having stomach issues and severe sweating, and im not tapering off like you are.
Are the side effects the main reason you are coming off?
Ive personally found after 6 years of trial and error this is the first one not to cause grogginess so im suffering through the side effects hoping for success in a few weeks.

It is really unfortunate that they only offer it in extended release capsules. They force you to go from 50mg straight to 0. Not to mention the SNRI withdrawals are notoriously bad. I think Pristiq would work well for me but I won't take it for that reason.

Yeah, side effects is one of the reasons. It made me sweat a lot which is embarrassing and was ruining my clothes. I would actually be willing to put up with that if I was actually feeling some benefit from the medication but I wasn't really - that's the other reason I'm coming off it. I still felt really tired while on it too. I'm not sure if that was caused by the depression or the meds but yeah... either way something wasn't working!

Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking when making this drug. I'm actually feeling pretty good today so that's a welcomed change. I had a good cry last night so I think that has helped a lot with emotional/psychological stuff.

When I was coming off prestiq, it was hell. And like others have mentioned I felt my depression and anxiety got worse whilst I was tappering off it. The withdrawals where so bad that in the end I went from 100mg to 0 because I just needed to be off it and to try something new. I am now on anafranil (one of the more older AD's) and it is working wonders for me, best one I've tried yet!
