I am new to this website and I am severely depressed. I just started on the MAOI called Emsam Patch. I started it on July 4th and I am just immobilized. I just sit and stare. I know it takes time for meds but I wondered if anyone has ever used this. I have tried too many meds over the past 13 yrs. to mention.

Is there anyone out there that has tried and what kind of response they had.

I have heard it can take two weeks before getting results. That of course is not what you want to hear.

I thought it was a great idea since you don't have to be a careful with your diet as with other MAOIs. The patch was very convenient too. I didn't have any reaction to the adhesive either. Had a little problem finding good positions for the patch because I sweat a LOT. But upper left and right hips worked find.

Didn't have any success but do let that discourage you. I have treatment resistant depression......nothing works.

Hi and welcome to PC!

I'm sorry you are suffering so. Your doctor did not intend for you to be immobilized. I hope it was prescribed by pdoc too instead of GP or internist.

Please give your pdoc a call and let him/her know your reaction to this patch. It is possible that it is too strong to start with after all.

I just got taken off of it about 2 weeks ago. It worked really well for awhile but like every other med, it stopped working after awhile. I had been on it since october. I didn't have any side effects at all. I'm thinking your dazed feeling is something that will go away if it hasn't already. Just make sure you know what meds are safe to take with it, some can be dangerous. I picked up a list from the pharmacy and also researched online. Good luck!!!
