Hello,
Problem: bipolar depression, ADHD Medication history. Started with SSRIS (cipralex) 3 years ago, went on ritilin and benzos this was the most productive period of my life but went crazy manic changed doctors and switched to anti psychotics qutipine for an year.A lot of weight gain, good sleep pattern, etc etc. Any ways became really repressed like 3 months ago. Changed to other mood stabilizers had cipralex. Cipralex caused a lot of problems for me because i was so damn tired all the time, started taking time of work regularly and basically jut slept and watched tv. About a week ago I switched to 150 ml wellbutrin plus 50 mg lamictale and it has been like a miracle cure. I am being productive, planning life sleeping only 7 hours a night an waking up fresh and ready for the day. I no longer need 2 redbull just to get through the day. and its only been a week What i am concerned about is that wellbutrin is not supposed to start working for months. And also if this is going to last realistically. Did ny one else have a similar effect on starting wellbutrin and did it last? I am hopeful but this is too good to be true. This is the first time i have ever wrote on any forum. sorry for long post. Wellbutrin users please share your experience. |

Hello Manan: Wellbutrin is one psych med the Skeezyks has not been on. So he cannot comment with regard to your good experience with it so far. However, since this is your first post, he would like to simply say... welcome to PsychCentral!

Where did you hear wellbutrin isn't supposed to start working in months? My pdoc said it might be a week or two!
I noticed a difference right away. More energy the first day, less depression by the third! I'm still on wellbutrin, 300mg XL (same as when I started 9 months ago) and it still gives me that energy boost. In fact, if I take it too late in the morning, I can't sleep at night. It's known for being activating, so that's not really surprising. Oh, and welcome! |

I wasnt sure if i should Make a new thread or carry on this one. O well maybe you guys can guide.
So that initial post I made was me in the "honey moon phase" of wellbutrin. The awesome feeling went away after a week and the lethargy and depression returned. However i decided to stick with it and some where along the line. Increased dose to 150+150 Wellbutrin SR =300 (generic, name brand not available in my country ![]() Sticking with it was a good Its been 7 weeks since i started. and About 3 weeks since I increased dose to 300. Things are looking better. It is obviously not as perfect as the intial phase but Life has become a lot better. I feel like I can manage life now. There are some wierd things happening however. I want to see if someone else experienced it on wellbutrin. 1. I feel like i have become..for lack of a better word. Stupid . Like my way of thinking has changed. Its really hard to explain.but its like a feeling of being slow. before when people used to make jokes i was very quick witted with reply. Now its like i cannot come up with an answer at all. 2. In a way my memory has improved . but in some ways its gone way worst. like i am remembering important things related to work. but i forget the most trivial things. Like turning on car lights at night, loosing my keys. I am sorry guys this is really hard to put in words. I am actually finding it hard to put things in words. 3. keep forgetting words while talking. have awkward pauses in conversation not knowing what to say. Feeling spacey All the above all are happening like starting 2 hours after taking med and get better like 5 hours after taking medicine. during these 3 hours i am feeling worst every day. Does anyone have any Idea what is wrong |

Wellbutrin took about a month to really start working for me. I haven't had the side effects you are getting, but i would give it a full month to see if they go away.

I took Welbutrin XL 150 for many years in addition to Xanax. I was on Welbutrin for years and I really enjoyed life. I was in my 30s.
When it went generic I was happy...less copay. Two months later I'm in the ER in psychosis with no precipitating event. I went back on brand name and went to 300mg and went back to enjoying life. I don't take it anymore. I won't take the generic stuff. My insurance isn't going to pay for brand name. I take Prozac 20mg now every other day. (anyone ever heard of that?) I would guess that you are on a generic as are most people so I don't know if my experience can help. I chimed in because of your diagnosis in the heading...me too |
