Generic lamotrigine - any issues?

I have been reading about how the switch from Lamictal to generic lamotrigine has affected people with epilepsy, causing them to have seizures again, and now I'm wondering if they have had any adverse effects on those of us who use it as a mood stabiliser. Has anyone here experienced any differences? Any unpleasant side effects that did not occur whilst on Lamictal, or a worsening in mood?

I am asking because I have recently increased my dose and was for the first time prescribed 200mg tablets, and when I picked them up yesterday they gave me Lamotrigine Teva, which I have never been given before. The packet leaflet, unlike the one that comes with Lamictal, says nothing about it being used for bipolar disorder. This bothers me as well.

Maybe I just worry too much.

I take generic Lamictal and have had no problems except when the titrated me up to fast and I started to,itch really badly

I've not had issues with generic Lamictal.

I have only taken the generic Lamictal. No problems.

No problems for me or my husband.

I had issues with generic Lamictal. I got manic from it which no one expected. I was taken off of it.

A few years later, I went back on it for a couple of months and I was just so flat that I stopped taking it and I began to feel better. So far two attempts and no success for me.

I do have a friend that takes 200mg and loves it. He is doing very well on it. He has been taking it for two years.

I don't understand why there would be a problem since lamictal is the same thing as lamotrigine.

Some generics don't work quite the same as the brand name. I haven't heard of the problem with lamictal. I did have the problem a few years ago with wellbutrin xr. It was such a common problem that the FDA pulled one manufacturer's generic off the shelves. It landed me in the hospital. So, on rare occasions doctors do notice problems with certain generics not working the same for some patients.

I hate the shape of the tablets. They're diamond shaped, big and bulky. Lol. But other than that, they seem fine so far (have taken them for about a week). I don't generally stress about generics, as I took generic quetiapine for years, and I've also been taking generic sertraline for years with no problems. I mainly reacted to the fact that the leaflet says nothing about treating bipolar disorder, but my flatmate suggested that maybe it's because only the Lamictal manufacturers have the right to market it for the treatment of bipolar? Which sounds strange to me, but I guess that is a possible explanation?

I have fewer side effects with generic Lamotrigine than I did when I was taking brand name Lamictal

I've been taking lamictal since the summer of 2014. I have a bad reaction to pretty much anything I take and this is no different. I end up going off most things I take and not going on anything new because the side effects outweigh the pros. Lamictal is destroying my teeth. Its causing multiple cavities and gingivitis. I take excellent care of my teeth. My doctor raised my lamictal in September and since I have had violent dangerous night terrors. I've tripped and fallen and hurt myself on furniture running out of the room and I have come close to falling down stairs. My pdoc doesnt seem all that concerned. When I told him about it his reply was: don't fall down the stairs.

I've always taken the generic. No issues.
