I have been able to cut down on my Klonopin and I'm now taking a really low dose. My pdoc is switching me to Xanax as a result. Anybody done that? I think I'll be okay, since they are both benzos, but I'm a bit concerned. What do you all think?

Hi Travelinglady, I haven't been switched from Klonopin to Xanax, but I do know that many people are prescribed Xanax when coming off Klonopin. I think it's a good plan - wish my pdoc would do it. You can check out the benzobuddies site...there's quite a bit of discussion about the K-pin - Xanax method.

I don't think there should be any problems with it.

Xanax works faster but it'll wear off quick.

For me they've still got me a reserve of Klonopin in case I have a GAD attack. That'll last more than the Xanax I can take.

Xanax I use sparingly and only if I'm on the verge of panic or really stressed to the point of over thinking the universe.

I've made the switch but recently went back to Klonopin since it lasts longer. Xanax is great for panic attacks and social anxiety. Klonopin is more of a smooth, calm ride, so to speak.
