Does anyone here have any experience with Paxil causing sleep issues? I’ve been put on 30mg of the stuff (45 now, I think…I’m supposed to be taking 1.5 30 mg tablets), and I’ve noticed the quality of my sleep decreasing – I lie there, and toss and turn but struggle to feel comfortable and fall asleep. My body’s tired, but my mind keeps going and I’ll wake up several times during the night. When I was in the hospital I was given something called Rorperam (sp?) that introduced me to the hell that is restless legs – I would literally be jogged out of hypnogogic sleep by this itching and twitching in my legs no matter how tired I was (and the other anti-anxiety med they gave me knocks me out, hence why I only take it as needed). They stopped giving me that after one night when I told them about the side effects, but now I’m starting to wonder if the Paxil is having a similar effect in making my body restless.

In addition, my heart races to a point where it worries me. I’ve never had anything wrong with my heart before, none of it runs in the family, yet I’ll wake up with my heart pounding, or I’ll just randomly notice it racing during the day. Maybe it’s nothing, but maybe I should bring it up with my doc? Or is it a normal, adjusting side effect?

I can't say, not having been on Paxil. But even if it is a side effect, I'd mention it to my doc. I hope it gets better!

I've taken Paxil 30mg and didn't sleep that great on it either. I still don't sleep much since I switched to 20mg of Prozac two months ago. I have to use sleep aids and still don't sleep great.

Welp. It seems my problem has flipped: instead of being unable to sleep, I sleep way too much. I'm fatigued all the time, not to mention almost totally apathetic. My mom suggested it may be due to my consuming too many energy drinks lately. I'm not sure.
