I'd been on it for less than a week but slowly each day I'd feel more angry. I started snapping at everyone over every little thing. It's like I couldn't control myself.
I also started feeling like I was starving to death and no matter how much I ate, I couldn't feel full. This started enraging me even more. I felt like a psycho. Has anyone here experienced rage with any medications? Did you stop them or change to something else? Sent from my iPhone SE using Tapatalk.

I'm sorry you are struggling. I take an AP (Geodon) for bipolar disorder. Fortunately, my only "side effect" is a good night's sleep!
I think you should call your pdoc and let him know how you're feeling. I know people that have done well on Zyprexa, but appetite and weight gain is prevalent. Many are ok with the weight gain because their MI is more stable. The anger must be very uncomfortable and you have my empathy. I broached the above issue because you mentioned the food thing - apparently this is very common. My pdoc is very comfortable prescribing AP's when needed. Interestingly, he told me he will not prescribe Zyprexa at all. Not to even ONE patient. Because of the massive weight gain side effect. I hope your pdoc told you about this side effect. You are already feeling it - you do not have to feel like this. You have options and it is your body. Taking medications and which ones is a personal, important decision that should be made *jointly* between patient and pdoc. Personally, I will not take any medication that makes me gain weight or keeps me sedated during the day. I am open to trying meds that have these potential side effects. I will give it a few weeks and if those symptoms do not subside, I call my pdoc and we try something else. I'm a daredevil on trying a med and giving it time. But I draw the line at those two side effects if they are ongoing. I am on several meds and it took a long time to work out a good combo. It can be done. I hope sharing my experience helps you. And please...if you get akathesia let your pdoc know ASAP. That happened to me on an AP and my pdoc gave me Cogentin to counteract it. It stopped akathesia right away. I was floored with relief! Worst side effect ever, IMO. Thinking of you. If you have bipolar disorder, I encourage you to visit the bipolar forum if you haven't. We are super friendly and supportive ... and active lol never a dull moment. ![]() |

I'm not sure if I'm bipolar yet. They're doing the psychotherapy to try to get me a real diagnosis. I've had a few discuss I've got dissociative amnesia identity disorder. I have anxiety and sometimes depression. Yeah, the weight gain is the most noticeable. It's not good for me as I just lost a lot of weight after stopping amitriptyline. I'll bring up Geodon once I get a real diagnosis and if it includes bipolar disorder. I'm hoping to get a diagnosis within a few weeks. I'm tired of not knowing what's wrong with me and each med I try making me worse. Thank you for responding! Sent from my iPhone SE using Tapatalk.
