I'm not a doctor or pharmacist but a former double-decade high-dose lithium hog and lithium is most effective when a patient takes enough to maintain a threshold blood serum concentration, with the lowest therapeutic dose resulting in a goal serum concentration between 0.4 and 0.8 mmol/L, measured by drawing and analyzing blood samples. I did well around 1.1 mmol/L, but go much higher than that and you will really feel the side effects... my favorite was ataxia.
Quote:
The reason I'm blathering about goal blood serum concentrations is that if you were to pare your dose down too far, not enough lithium will be present in your blood to do you any good. Ask your doctor. |

Left,
thank you for the reply. i am just using lithium as an adjunct to my cipralex. i feel it's helped to just level my mood. i need to start methotrexate soon for my auto-immune disease and it is hard on the same internal organs that lithium is, so i was hoping to go down a bit more. but i see what you are saying. thank you. |
