I posted in the bipolar forum about my extreme lack of energy, fatigue, motivation not to do anything, balance issues, and just an all around drugged feeling. I sleep A LOT. I don't know if this is depression rearing its ugly head again or if I'm taking too much of my drugs.
Here's what I'm taking: Lamictal 450 mg in the morning Wellbutrin 300 mg in the morning Klonopin up to 2 mg as needed for anxiety (I don't use Klonopin during the day much more than 1-2 days a week). I also take .5 g. to help with sleep at night. Trazodone 200 mg a night to help with sleep Lithium 300 mg ER (my lithium levels are low -- only .04 right now) I see my pdoc this afternoon and have a lot to discuss with her. These symptoms came on all at once and I haven't changed anything. I really hope she can help me. I don't know much longer I can go on this this. |

What did your pdoc say?
I don't know your diagnosis. Just by looking at the list of your meds it seems to me that you are on very high doses of several of them. I'm not surprised that you feel exhausted. |

You say that you haven't changed anything; does that mean that your meds have stayed the same? If so, it seems like it wouldn't be the meds causing this. I hope your pdoc had some ideas.

I would say that taking all of those drugs might be causing your liver to function poorly. I'd guess your kidney function is being tested due to the lithium, but if you haven't gotten your other labs checked, such as liver and white blood cell count, do that soon. Liver function tests aren't 100 percent, but i'd want to check it if on all those medications.

If your sleepy and exhausted all the time why are you taking klonopin for sleep?

Probably to try to enforce the circadian clock & sleep well at a regular time. Feeling sleepy & exhausted for extensive periods can indicate that your sleep isn't deep, regenerative sleep - taking something sedative before the time where you'd like to sleep can sometimes help get a period of that deep sleep & restore the normal sleep cycle - but other factors (environmental, drug interactions & body tolerance) can make it trickier than than that to resolve.
