I'm new to this forum and new to Lexapro. I started taking 10 mg of Lexapro two weeks ago today. I did some research before starting and due to others experience, decided to try it in the evenings due to the possibility of drowsiness. It does make me sleepy and although I fall asleep quickly, I'm not sleeping through the night. I lose count of how often I wake, but it seems like every hour or two. It's been two weeks with only 1 solid night sleep that's beginning to wear on me.

I've read other posts (here and elsewhere) that some side effects, such as insomnia, will even out after a few more weeks. I'm wondering if I should switch to mornings and risk being drowsy or wait it out to see if the insomnia goes away. It feels like choosing between lesser of two evils at this point, so I'm curious on others experience with this issue.

I did some research, and you may want to try taking the Lexapro about 4 hours before bedtime.

I hope this helps.

I was on Lexapro for several years and always took it before bedtime. But it didn't give me insomnia.

I did switch to 4 hrs before bed, but it's not helping. Yesterday completed week 4 and I'm still having trouble sleeping soundly. I have a recheck w/ my dr today, so hopefully she'll have some answers on what to do.

When I was on Lexapro I took it right before bed with the rest of my meds. No insomnia.

5mg in the morning, switching to 10mg soon - will see how that goes.

I sleep well on Lexapro, but Paxil gave me insomnia in the past.
