I'm bipolar 1, ptsd gad borderline, mostly I'm on the manic side, bit lately I been down . I stopped latuda, as it has not helped. I have stressors, usually when this happens or mania, I tend to get paranoid, I get lots of brain chatter, racing thoughts , anyways. My pdoc today prescribed Rexulti. I will pic it up tomorrow, I been seeing things, my brain won't stop either. I try and distract myself. Has anyone tried this? She is starting me at the very low dose, at night.

Is it new? I'm not familiar with it. Maybe someone will come along soon who has taken it.

I take it as an add on for MDD. I started at .5 mg, then went to 1mg. I switched to taking it in the morning cuz it was messing with my blood sugar and that is when I take my diabetes meds.

Rexulti was very effective for me. I am Bipolar I with ultradian cycling and it helped with racing thoughts and psychotic symptoms. However, I discontinued it after 6 weeks because I didn't like gaining weight. It was only a small amount of weight gain compared to other antipsychotics I have taken, but it was enough to make me go back to Seroquel.

It is a fairly new atypical antipsychotic that came out in August 2015. It is approved to treat schizophrenia. It is also approved as adjunct therapy for Major Depressive Disorder. It is added to an anti-depressant that a patient is only responding to partially.
