I don't mean does exercise help with depression. I want to know if exercise can make the medication work better, whether it be an antidepressant, stimulant, mood stablizer, etc.

I haven't ever heard that exercise helps meds work better, either.

I agree with everyone else. Exercise doesn't make the meds work better. It does help with the conditions we take the meds for.

No, they definitely synergize. So the sum of the benefits of just medication, and just exercise, is less healing than someone who exercises while taking medication. Exercise itself it about one of the only productive things you can do, too.

I was prescribed Januvia, for my blood sugar, about a year ago, and the doctor said it might help me lose a little weight. it wasnt until i joined weight watchers online and started tracking my food and staying within their guidelines that i did start losing weight. My exercise stayed more or less the same - i get some, but not a lot. My weight before this just stayed the same. Id say its complicated in ways we cant even freaking imagine.

Definitely, exercise helps your brain release endorphins, and other neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin, etc.) So if you are taking a drug that is a "reuptake inhibitor", you need your brain to release some feel-good chemicals first so that the drug can then help them stay in your brain longer and keep you feeling good! That's my take on it from personal experience.

Runners highs are great when you're not completely depressed!
