Since abilify was helping, maybe you need to increase the dose.

It isn't necessarily too early to increase the dose again. It has been over 3 weeks. You are not on a very high dose given that the highest dose is 30 mgs. A good target dose is at least 15-20 mgs. However, doses lower than that can be effective for some people.

You should talk to your doctor about the problems you are having. You should ask the doctor whether it is a good idea to try to increase the Abilify dose. You should ask what other options you have in regards to meds.

5 mg is still a low dose, especially for psychotic symptoms. I was on 5 mg, in combo with other meds, and it didn't do much for me when I was having paranoid thoughts and depression. I heard Abilify is very good for psychosis in higher doses. My pdoc decided to take me off of it though and switch to Seroquel, maybe since lack of sleep and manic mixed symptoms contributed to paranoia, so Seroquel got me sleeping again. This is just my experience though, of course.

You definitely have options, and I'm sure your pdoc can make suggestions. Some people even go on the injection Abilify Maintenna for psychosis in certain instances, which I heard is really effective for some.

Well, your doctor would have to decide which dose is best for you. But I think people can go up to 30mg. on Abilify - maybe even higher, I'm not sure.
Thanks for this!

There is no one recommended dose though 30 mg is the maximum recommended. You have to work with your doctor to find the right dose for you. That dose would probably be the amount that is most effective for your paranoid thoughts without causing too many bad and unbearable side effects. It may take some trial and error to find the right dose.

When I was sectioned to a hospital I was put on 30mg of Abilify!! That's the maximum dose. I felt like a zombie/ So If i was to take 5 or 10mg of Abilify I'm pretty sure I wouldnt feel anything. I think you need to ask your doc or psy to increase your dose

I was on Abilify 20mg. I was so agitated and restless I couldn't take it. I was a smoker and every morning I took it I would sit outside and chainsmoke.
