Hello Everyone;

I'm currently on a cocktail of meds, Zoloft, Abilify, and Epival (plus Remeron to help me sleep). Unfortunately, the Zoloft isn't really working for depression or anxiety, and I have an appointment with my doctor on Thursday to discuss options.

I read about "California rocket fuel" (Mirtazapine + Effexor) and was wondering if anyone had any experiences they'd like to share. Is the combo really worth all the hype? Is adding Epival to the mix a bit of overkill?

Thank you.

Phil

I used to be on Mirtazapine and Effexor. It did nothing for me except give me tinitus(it was the effexor that caused it). My pdoc said it would give me energy but it did not. That isn't to say it won't work well for you. Nothing has helped me, except Mirtazapine, which I also take for sleep issues but doesn't touch my depression.

I was on a form of Epival a long time ago for my seizure disorder, I didn't notice any depression effectiveness. In my opinion, the fewer meds you are on the better. If it were me, I would try the Mirtazapine + Effexor first and re-evaluate with my pdoc after a few months.
