Hi everyone;

I'm really struggling to figure out what to do. As of now, I take a cocktail of some meds (Zoloft, Abilify, Epival, Remeron), and have tried so many others (Cymbalta, Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Pristiq).

To be quite frank, I'm kind of getting tired of trying all of these different drugs. And I'm asking myself whether it's even worth it.

I've used cannabis in the past. In small amounts it's helped me focus, relax and just feeling positive about things. But the key is really small amounts at a time.

So I'm like... why keep trying all these meds?

Any input would be great.

Thanks, y'all.

Philipp

If the meds are not working than why not, but cannabis is a depressant when coming off it, and it also gives you anxiety upon discontinuation.

Pot is great for feeling good but can cause serious anxiety so if you already have anxiety it's probably not the best idea. Plus it can trigger psychosis.

Almost the same story here. I've been using cannabis in small amounts to help me stay relaxed and ease anxiety. It also helped a lot on insomnia. I've been smoking cannabis almost every day, and it cost me less than 20$ a month, which is much cheaper than the cocktail of antidepressants I use now, which chemically adds up almost to the party drug called 'Ecstasy'.

But for the past two or three years I've NOT Used Cannabis, except for one single time at a party.

Let me put down the pros and cons of cannabis. It is a quick relief with less side effects than most of those pharmaceuticals.

But the down side is that cannabis wears out quickly and the symptoms relapse by the next day if not few hours. It is hard to have a regular dosage with cannabis because the amount of THC and CBD may vary with a number of factors including but not limited to the cannabis strain, humidity, processing of individual sample, season, etc..

THC in Cannabis also build up a tolerance quite fast.

Unless I'm using a small dose in regular basis, cannabis actually worsen the anxiety symptoms.

This was my experience, depression and anxiety when coming off of it.

unfortunately I agree, anyone with psychotic tendencies is taking a major risk esp if they also have addicted tendencies.

This hits the nail on the head.

There is such a thing as marijuana without THC. Look it up. They have establishments that sell the smokable variety, oils, vaping... all kinds of things.

It can be used for anxiety/depression as well as chronic pain.

No THC.

I think it's better to get on the right combo of meds.

I use cbd oil for anxiety and no longer need clonazepam/ativan on a regular basis. I use 1:1 (cbd:THC) oil for sleep and no longer take zopiclone. I have a prescription for cannabis. I still take my bipolar meds. The combination works for me.

That's absolutely true and as long as a person sticks to no THC then there's probably no extra risk of psychosis from what I have read. it may even be the case that CBD is an antipsychotic. I never was able to stick with no THC though because of my addictive personality and wanting to have a high.

The fact is most cannabis on the market is high THC low CBD.

I have BPD and take 300 Wellbitrin 30Citalopram Ativan as needed. I am a chronic, I get high all day long. If I didn't have weed I'd probably no longer be around. It helps me sleep, cures all sorts of pain, relaxes me... I have gotten high and taken two Ativan in the past hour, along with my antidepressants. When I am spinning out of control, when I'm so mad or sad I can't stand it, it's the only way to come down. I get stoned off my head so I can numb the pain. It's crucial in my journey - I've used it to ease withdrawals from weaning off pills. It's the only thing that's gotten me through all the switching between meds. I know I'm probably not going about it the best way but it helps me cope big time.

There is always the risk of cannabis induced psychosis which has been positively linked to down the road bipolar & szhizophrenia susceptabiliy, you should also look and see if recreational and/or medicinal use is legal in your state because one simple stupid possession charge in many states dooms you in employment opportunities the rest of your life, weight the risk make an educated decision .
On a personal note my hypothesis is all these natural drugs like cannabis morphine LED etc... that are not researched and are banned may well in some combination or dosages fit together a possibly unlock So much we dont know about drugs and treating diseases from mood disorders to cancer but nobodies is even looking for that... its the weakness of humans for shunning all these natural substances , i cant help but believe in god of some kind ( what ever you want to call him ) and that he would gives these challeges and illneses with no solutions ? Or are we just to blind to see and use what he gave us ? Yes I am up late thinking about weird things but somebodies got to do it !
Make a healthy choice that works for you , thats what counts .
Thanks for this!

When I first started smoking yearss ago, it didn't affect me at all. It took about 3 months of smoking pot before I felt any type of high. So at first I didn't like it. But then it hit me and I fell in love. After a few years I started getting depressed when I came down though and I would get really paranoid, and then when I finally started taking my psych meds properly it messed me up completely. My muscles would jerk, I felt like I couldn't sit still and my motor function was out the window. This would happen every time I smoked so I finally stopped smoking pot and now I don't have those issues, I just stick with my psych meds. They don't mix well together and to me it's not worth the risk.
