Haldol has so many side effects, I hate it. It really is an ancient med. So is Thorazine but know people on it. Call your Dr. right away and schedule an appointment.

Hi,

You might want to ask the professional who prescribes your medications about how to proceed with this. It doesn't seem uncommon for doctors to prescribe Cogentin (benztropine) or other anticholinergic medications to help alleviate some of the problems with muscle movements that those who take Haldol and related medications commonly experience. Of course, Cogentin and other anticholinergic medications have side effects of their own, so you and the professional who prescribes your medications would need to evaluate whether adding another medication might make the most sense for you or whether there might be a better way to address this. I hope that you'll find a way to alleviate the muscle spasms that you're experiencing without losing the beneficial effects that you seem to be getting from your medications, and I wish you luck with this.

I see my dr next week but didn't know if I need to just wait it out or big him and call. They happen at night a couple hours after I take it. It eased up after a bit.

This pdoc had me on Thorazine in ip during psychosis. I didn't like it one bit!

I think that I'd recommend erring on the side of caution and calling your doctor if you're in doubt about how concerned you should be about the muscle spasms that you've been experiencing. Considering that Haldol isn't the only antipsychotic that you're taking (based on the information in your signature that says that you're also taking Latuda), I think that I'd check with your doctor to make sure the muscle spasms that you're experiencing aren't a sign of any really serious problems, just to be on the safe side.

Well he called in cogentin for me to take with the haldol at night. Hate taking yet another pill but the haldol is really helping so I'm happy to stay on it.
