Just wondering what dosage people are taking. I know everyone's different but just wondering for some type of average...

I take 400mg, probably the high end of the spectrum. I'm Type 1 Bipolar. I also take 400mg quetiapine, 3mg clonazepam, and 150mg bupropion. This cocktail got me out of a mixed state, and I have been stable for a couple of months.

I had issues with Lamictal... allergic reaction. Small rash, but the staff at the hosp couldn't risk it being Stephen's Johnsons syndrome, which can be really, really bad. They sent me to the ER.

Mostly just posting to say to look out for anything out of the ordinary... doesn't happen often, but ya.

im on 100mgs, but my prescriber said he goes up to 600. Before he said that, I'd heard the max for bipolar and such was 400.
Thanks for this!

I'm on 200 mgs but my hands shake pretty bad at any higher dose than that. They only shake a little on this dose. Oh, and my hair was falling out practically by the handful, but I take supplements that fixed that issue. I have weird sensitivities though. Most things either don't work at all or I get bad side effects.

Was on 250 mg/day, at 225 now and hoping to lower it a little more.
The side effect that's really pushed me to finally stick to lowering it is the crazy amount of hair loss I've been having.
Ember_42, if I can ask, what supplements have helped you with the hair loss?

Biotin (10,000 micrograms) and folic acid (400 mcgs) once a day. When I started taking Lamictal I read about it on crazymeds.us and it recommended the folic acid. Biotin is a common supplement for hair loss and brittle nails.

My sister also takes a lot of psychiatric meds, although not Lamictal, and she was told to take prenatal vitamins (which contain folic acid among other things) for hair loss. My hair is pretty much back to normal now and hers is getting better.
Thanks for this!

When I was on Lamictal I took 200 mgs, along with 900 mg lithium and 20 mg Saphris. It worked for me for the longest time....then I wanted to go off meds. Have to take the Saphris and lithium now, but didn't restart taking the Lamictal and I've been stable so far (only 3 months though).
Thanks for this!

I was on 300mg Lamictal for a while. It didn't do much for me, so I was switched to something else.
Thanks for this!

When I was losing hair on Depakote I took selenium and zinc. Solved the problem. Hope this helps.

I will be starting Lamictal tomorrow. I am starting with 25mg for 2 weeks then going to 50mg. I know you have to build up real slow. I hope it works and I don't get the rash.

I forgot all about the rash. I have been on it a long time and never got it. Hope you don't either. It can be really helpful

400mg/day. No hair loss/no rash. I've been taking it 12yrs for bipolar and epilepsy. It's been a great med for me.
