Hi
I'm on Prozac 40mg and been having trouble sleeping..5hours a night is my average...my doc gave me 50mg trazadone
Has anybody one had good/bad experiences with this or unusual side effects?
any improvement in anxiety or OCD type symptoms?

I tried trazadone to help me sleep but about a half hour after I took it I would feel a light pressure in my chest. That increased my anxiety thus causing more difficulty sleeping so I stopped taking it.

I have Bipolar and it did absolutely nothing. My husband doesn't have a MI , he just uses for help sleeping and it knocks him out and he has no hangover effect.

Hope it works for you

Trazadone was useless for me. But as we know, meds work differently for different people.

I have bipolar. I took it for sleep for several years and then it gradually stopped working. I resumed it after a hiatus, which in some cases makes the medicine work again, but it did not do the trick.

I'd say try it and use for as long as it helps you, and then find something else.

Didn't do anything for me. Still can't sleep, with or without it. I hope that it helps you, though.

Trazadone has a 30 minute window, if you're not sleeping within that period, it almost felt like I had an energy drink and couldn't sleep at all. If your Dr. wont give you Ambien, make sure you are in bed, and your slowed down and rested before you take it. If you take it, walk around for 20 minutes, then lay down, your odds are slim that it will help.

I have had good results with trazodone for sleep for years. I found that it will not cause drowsiness if you have had caffeine within a couple hours of taking it. It is an anti depressant with side effects like other meds. At least try it, and if it's not right let your doc know.

I take between 75-150mg of it. It helps me sleep really good. I only take it as needed because when I take it all the time it looses its affects slightly. It hasn't helped with any Depression even though it can be used to help depression.

I am schizoaffective depressive type.

I take 100mg with my lexapro at night to sleep. It works good, but if I am going through a bad anxiety period it won't work. I don't have any hangover from it like I did with remeron, but remeron is stronger.
Thanks for this!
