So, I was put on this med a month ago and was told to take one pill @ 75mg for 7 days than to increase to 2 pills a day after that. Well, when I increased the dosage I had some EXTREME anxiety issues to the point where I couldn't breathe. So I placed a call into the doc and she told me to go back to the one pill a day till our next visit. I went in for my medication managment yesterday and we decided to try the 2 pill a day again. Maybe it was too much too soon. So here I go with day #1 with 2 pills and I am a little nervous but I am trying to stay calm so I dont bring the attack on myself. This is difficult though! *sigh*

Well good luck. I'm on my second attempt with Effexor in general but mixing it with another antidepressant. I have found that this time it makes me extremely tired, and it didn't do that to me the first time.. but luckily I don't have that many side effects from it.

I am pretty sensative to medications. When I started taking Effexor I started at the 37.5 dose for 7 days. Then I moved to 75 mgs for one week. Then I increased to 112.5 mgs and so on. My current dose is 187.5.

Each medication effects everyone differently. I remember having very vivid dreams when I began taking the Effexor. My anxiety level also increased as well in the begining. My PDoc prescribed Xanax (at that time, it has now switched to Ativan) to help my anxiety until I could "adapt" to the Effexor.

Just hang in there. As with any AD, it takes time to feel the full effects.

Good luck!

Thanks! I am on day 3, and so far so good. I haven't had any horrible anxiety as of yet and I am doing well. I really enjoy Effexor. I was on Celexa before and it did nothing. I am a little more at ease with this one. effexor attempt #2!

Hi Raspberry,
I take Effexor 75 mg. daily and have now for 5 years. It worked for me just great!

Why did your pdoc want to bump you up to a higher dose? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, I'm just curious.

In any case, I'm glad it's working for ya!
Take care,
Okie

Well, I was having some severe issues with Rage. I was angry at my family. I would be okay til I got home. I guess a lot has to do with my living situation too. Kinda a long story. Disfunctional story. To sum it up, I live with my mother, sister, and daughter. I am the only one with a full-time job. All the stress falls on me to get the bills paid, food on 5the table, and misc. crap. My mom had been clean for almost 2 years from drugs, and my sister has fallen back into it. THANK GOD she never brings it home. I would have the cops remove her if such a thing would happen. But,it is SLOWLY getting better. My sister is starting to work a little and has helped a little. BUt whatev. The effexor really helps me. I can tolerate things a little more lately. I am not so angry with everyone and I have stopped yelling. I still have issues to work with but...day to day!!

Hi Rasp,
Glad the meds are helping you. It sounds like you got a lot on your plate! I'm glad your sis is starting to help out a bit. You said your mom "had been" clean for almost 2 years. Did she go back out? Addiction absolutely sucks. There is addiction in my family too back 5 generations that I know of!

You hang in there. It sounds as if you are doing a fabulous job of taking care of business.
Best,
Okie
