I called the mental health clinic earlier this week cause i cant take the way im feeling from them changing me to lexapro. They made me an appt for yesterday with the nurse and i went. I told her how bad i'm feeling and that i want off of the lexapro. That i cant take it no more. She told me the doctor wasnt there and she would talk to him and call me today.

She just called me, she said the doctor said to double the lexapro dose. I told her again how it makes me violent with anger and frustration. The anixiety is unbearable. Then she told me that i'm overreacting and most of it is in my head , that i'm making it up. Then she had the nerve to tell me that most of the patients they have are from the 9th ward and they are the ones who suffered the greatest loss. So since this is all in my head, there is no need for me to be on any meds. So i quit

Amazing. I have no words to respond to how you were treated. She shouldn't be working there, or anywhere in the mental health field. Is there someone 'normal' you can talk to at the clinic?

Hey there,
You know, its people like that who make the world an unbearable place to live. I encourage you to call the office back and demand to speak with someone else at the clinic. If that does not help, call your last general practitioner’s office and have them recommend a different facility. Please do not let this woman detour you from getting help. You are special, you are wonderful and be thankful that it "is all in your head" that you can identify when something is not right!
Hang in there,
JSP

Please report her unprofessional behavior and comments to her supervisor. If you are unable to do this over the phone, write up a professional letter and mail it to the clinic. I hope you will be OK stopping your med suddenly. What were you taking before the Lexapro and how long have you been on the Lexapro? I may start Lexapro soon and my doctor told me it would be hard at first but would improve as my body adjusted. I wish you good luck! (((hugs)))
