I take 300mg of lamotrigine everyday, because I also take a tricyclic birth control. I take 25 mg of quetapine or 400mg at night depending on my day. If I'm anxious, gabapentin.
I've been taking the lamotrigine for 10 years and the quetapine off and on for 10 years. The gabapentin was a new drug as of last year. I just started working full time last month. I enjoy having defined muscles and visible bone structure. Does anybody know if any of these drugs interfere with my fitness goals? |

seroquel could very well interfere with your goals. Any antipsychotic/tranquilizer/neuroleptic can cause weight gain, except for Moban. Seroquel can cause weight gain and change lipids in a bad direction. Now and then people develop diabetes on Seroquel, although I don't think it happens as often as on Zyprexa.
Seroquel at a full dose can also make it harder for your body to regulate your body temperature, so overheating becomes a very real possibility. I hope you can achieve your goals, with or without the medications. |

have you tried any other sleeping pills? I sometimes take gabapentin for sleep. Could you ask your doctor for some extra pills for as-needed, night time use?
25mgs seroquel is a tiny dose, but ((in my experience)) I think there are other things that could help you sleep that are probably safer+more tolerable. Just a thought. Clearly, you and your doctor have to make the call. |

I love my 25mg of seroquel and I can go up to 500mg of gabapentin if I need to and maybe 600mg. It sounds like you don't like quetapine? Bad experience? |

If Seroquel isn't causing you any weight gain, than it is safe for sleep. The risk for diabetes is rare.

Yeah, the seroquel would be the one to really worry about for weight gain, but I do think that's a pretty low dose. Gabapentin can cause weight gain for some people, but I think it's usually not as bad/inevitable, especially if you aren't taking a high dose daily.
Off topic but if you don't mind me asking, were you on lamictal before you started the birth control? If so, about how much did you end up having to raise your dose? And do you get an increase in side effects with a higher dose? |
