Hi, I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and prescribes Fluspirilene. But when I looked at the side effects I became very reluctant to take them. I don't want to take them, should I?

Yes, hold your breath and take one.
It was prescribed to you based on whatever you discussed with the doctor...so the doctors try to help with our symptoms and are trained to pick the medicine they think will work..we have to trust them and take them instead of (like me) only really sticking to the ones that I know I like...or none at all. I know it is always hard to take a new medication, but we have to trust the doctor. I just got prescribed 2 new medications TODAY and I am always afraid but I have become so desperate for relief from my symptoms that I took one of the new ones as soon as I left the office and said frig it...if it makes me feel lousy. I will deal with it and see how bad it is....the 2nd new one I'm due to take tonight...and I'm going to just take it...if either one makes me feel awful...I won't take it again. Its become that simple for me.

could you ask for a different antipsychotic, eventually? I'm not your doctor, but there are newer drugs out there that might not have the same adverse effect profile.
