I'm pretty sure the two are interrelated. I started taking it January 11th and the insomnia began happening a week later. I often wake up at 3 or 4am and can't go back to sleep and feel immensely tired in the afternoon. It's effecting my school and home life. I almost fell asleep while doing my taxes because I woke up at 3am today. I rooted out many other causes. I don't think it's due to my anxiety or mood swings because then the insomnia would've happened earlier that January. It can't be due to running on our treadmill because I do it at various times throughout the week. Some days I don't work out at all. I thought about the lithium I'm taking and looked up stories about people having some issues with it and I believe it's happening to me now. Any thought?

Well I found it extremely sedating when I first started and would be tired a lot during the day, has never caused insomnia for me. But it does make me get up during the night a couple times to go to the bathroom. Also I wake up at 6am and go to bed around 10 which used to sound insane to me. If you're working out in the morning or afternoon it shouldn't affect it, never at night..,
If you're still having anxiety and mood swings plus it's causing insomnia, gotta talk to a doc and maybe switch. Good luck |

My daughter's PDoc prescribed a second med specifically to help with insomnia at the same time he prescribed Lithium. There are many options out there and your doctor should be able to help with your insomnia.
