My Doc just upped my dosage of Prozac from 20 mg to 40 mg. Instead of just one pill in the morning now ill have to take another one in the afternoon. I've read somewhere that if youre taking youre pills with food than you should stick to the same routine, take it every time "with" food.

So heres my predicament. I take my morning pill on an empty stomach coz seroquel i take at night knocks me out pretty hard and i dont have the energy to wake up and get my breakfast before my morning pill. So what i do is put an alarm for around 8 am and wake up just enough to down my morning pill and go back to sleep. Now i'll have to start taking it at afternoon as well. My doc advised to take it between 2 pm and 3 pm. But i always get my lunch at 1 pm. So no way i can take the afternoon pill on an empty stomach. My question is, does it really matter if i take it with or without food?

Prozac can be taken either way. I found this article online and summed it up below:

Drugs such as lurasidone, sertraline, vilazodone, and ziprasidone are better absorbed when taken with food.

It is said that for the most part antidepressants (including Prozac) can be eaten on a full of empty stomach. MAOIs require that you don't eat food with thyramine. Vilazodone is an exception.

Antipsychotics except ziprasidone (Geodon) and lurasidone (Latuda) can be taken either way, the above better absorbed with food.

For the sake of sleeping better, don't take sedatives such as eszopiclone (Lunesta) zolpidem (Ambien) with a meal.

Mood stabilizers such as lithium and divalproex sodium (Depakote) should be taken on a full stomach (as it may upset the stomach)

[I'll repost this in a separate thread, with the link]
