Hi everyone,

My prescriber, (not a Psychiatrist but a Nurse who prescribes in a mental health office) has me on 40mg Prozac and amitryptine 100mg for OCD hair pulling and Bipolar depression- yes I have multiple issues- also 50mg trazadone some nights for sleep
I also take tripletal to stabilize my mood

Is anyone here on more than one AD in different classes and what were your experiences? She seems to think this is safe because they are different classes but when I look up interactions some of them say to avoid..
I'm confused- I feel really good on this combo but I don't want to have anything dangerous happen either

Help!

I've been on SSRI and tricyclic combos a few times in the past (only quit them because they didn't work), and I hear about them being combined pretty often. I'm not entirely sure about the trazodone on top of both of those, but that is a really low dose.
I know seeing those interactions is still scary, but in a lot of instances it's just that the meds together could hypothetically be dangerous, say if they were both at really high doses, but a pdoc who knows what they're doing can safely prescribe them together in the right way.
I'm glad you've found a good combo. Especially if you've double checked with your pdoc, I wouldn't worry much.
Thanks for this!

I wouldn't worry too much about med interactions. When an Rx is sent to the pharmacy, a pharmacist has to check the interactions of each med to make sure it's safe to take said combination of meds. They do this for every order in case a doctor isn't paying attention to what he or she prescribed. You'll notice somewhere that the pharmacist has physically signed off on it. (Either pamphlet or Rx bottle.)

Good luck!

Yes, many people are on anti-d's from different classes. Not uncommon at all.
Thanks for this!

Cool the interaction comments on webmd

I am currently on 3 antidepressants plus Latuda. Wellbutrin XL, Remeron and Trintellix. I'm trying to talk my psychiatrist into taking me off of Wellbutrin, though so I can cut down the number of meds I'm taking. I've only been on Trintellix for a few months.
Thanks for this!

Yeah, Web MD and some other sites can be scary. I think that if even one person had a bad reaction to being on a certain med it has to be reported as a possible red flag.

Yeah true
Overall my combo is pretty good
The addition of the trileptal helps even me out
and control any mania
The downside is the sweets craving since I'm already
overweight but I'm trying to follow a healthy program
