Hello. So I went off of Lexapro after being on it for 2 years. Three months later I go into depression, which I haven't experienced like this in a few years, before medication. So I was put back on it because it worked before. But it's almost been four weeks and I feel the same as before the medication - extremely depressed, sleep problems of being either too little or too much sleep, extreme concentration problems, and other fun depression symptoms. I talked to my therapist about it, not that she's trained in medication, but she said that doctors say medication should have some effectiveness just by being on them for a few weeks, but the full effectiveness wouldn't be noticed until 6-8 weeks, and the fact that nothing has changed makes her think I should see a pdoc to get a new medication. It'd take two weeks, which is fine since I haven't been on Lexapro for the recommended length yet before changing, but I'd probably have to change medications. Now I'm unsure how I'm going to be. I have tried Zoloft, but I couldn't handle the fatigue. My dose for Lexapro is low, but when I went higher, I had daily panic attacks, so I was left at 10mg. My mom wants me to try Trazodone, but I thought the pdoc would want to try other things first like another SSRI. My mom doesn't want Prozac at all I know for sure. How are other people's experiences with Trazodone? Is it possible that my body is already use to Lexapro so when I went back on it, it didn't work? I used to take Lexapro for anxiety, which I still have, but it's not as big of an impact as depression currently is. Thanks.

I have heard that meds don't work the same after you've come off of it.
I've tried quite a few.
Celexa - at low dose it made me drowsy. At a higher dose I got screaming headaches.
Prozac - didn't work even at max dose
Effexor - wasn't working well enough even at max dose
Serzone - didn't really give it a shot to work.
Zoloft - the first time I was on it it caused mania. Now I'm back on it in conjunction with a mood stabilizer and I'm relatively happy with it. I think I need an increase.
Keep in mind everyone reacts differently to meds and there are plenty of people here that will have opposing views on meds.
I think I was on something else too but I can't remember.
I hope you find something that works well for you.
